Lens hood with the “Leica look”
A lens hood provides a good protection of the front element of your lens, not matter if it’s a zoom, or a prime lens. But they are firstly designed to eliminate sun flares, thus offering more contrast and better IQ when shooting in difficult, backlight conditions.
Fujifilm has different designs for their Fujinon lenses, but not all of them seem to satisfy their clients, already used to a very high quality standard. It seems the lens hoods and the straps could be the Achilles’ heel for Fujifilm. Some photographers gladly consider alternatives to the included plastic lens hoods.
In this video, we see a rectangle design for a lens hood conceived to work for the XF 23mm F2.0 WR. The Leica style is clearly visible and it seems it brings a more elegant look to the overall design.
