Premium/ A new life for X-Pro1
I’m not the type of photographer that must always have the most recent equipment, the latest news. I like to have the right equipment, which depending on my requirements and needs, dictates the pace of the acquisitions to make. About 6 months ago Maurício told me about a nice campaign on the X-E3 with the 23mm f/2 lens and we decided to buy one of those sets for each. Maurício made the order and a few days later each one had in his hands an X-E3 silver version.
Taking the camera out of the box and putting the lens on it (23mm f/2 black version), the first impression I had was how this set was not attractive at all. Not that it matters in terms of usability and image quality, but it’s almost as if the camera and lens design teams had never talked to each other. I don’t know if it is because of the body being silver and the lens black, or the shape of this Fuji f/2 series (commonly called Fujicron), where the diameter of the barrel decreases towards the front element. This option has a logical explanation, the purpose of this design is to ensure that the barrel of the lens obstructs the optical viewfinder of the X-Pro series as little as possible.
