Premium/ The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of my Fuji lenses
Right now, there are five lenses that usually accompany me everywhere. They could be more, they could be less, they could be others. But they are not. My backpack includes the XF18-55mmF2.8-4, XF14mmF2.8, XF23mmF2, XF35mmF2 and XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8. I like them all, but I use some more than others.
This is not a technical article, nor a review. There are no graphs or tables. It is just an article about what I like and dislike about each of these lenses, accompanied by some images that I have been making in the last few years with each one. It can be useful for those who are changing systems. Or for those who want to purchase another lens. Or for those who bought one of the mentioned lenses and want to shorten the path and know in advance what they can count on.
Of course, in the end, you will have the right to contest or think exactly the opposite of what I have written. This may mean that we are both right.
Fuji XF18-55mmF2.8-4R LM OIS
Most people refer to this lens as a “kit lens”. I’ll be honest, I never saw it that way. Even when I saw it the first time. It is small, light, but relatively solid, well built, when compared to real kit lenses, like those we know from other brands, or looking at the Fuji XC16-50mmF3.5-5.6, for example.
It is not weather resistant, but I have used it a few times under some rain and humidity. So far, always with success. In fact, since I started shooting I never gave much importance to the weather when the time comes to really want to take an image. It’s been doing well so far. I hope it will continue that way.
If I had to choose a lens to accompany me on a trip, this XF18-55mm would most likely be the one selected.
