Premium/ Three months with the Fujifilm X-H2S – A photographic review
I was holding the Fujifilm X-H1 for the first time in December 2017. Comparing it to my X-T2, which was then my current camera, I was sceptical if Fujifilm was going the right way with this concept. In January 2018, I was able to test the X-H1 for a more extended period, and the new concept was growing on me. I liked the files straight out of the camera, and the IBIS was, of course, a huge plus, but it was still a bulky camera. Eventually, during the summer of 2018, I switched back to X-T Series and the X-T3 became my main camera. It was a trade-off. I was still more keen on the classical concept and preferred the new sensor over the IBIS and the bulkiness.
Fast forward four and half years (yes, it took that long for Fujifilm to have a successor to the X-H1), and I am holding the new X-H2S in my hands. This time I was not able to test the camera beforehand, but simply pre-ordered one after the launch presentation, as I was convinced that Fujifilm was on the right track with this new model. Initially, I took it alongside my X-T4, which was now set up to give me the best results for my music and sports photography. However, it did not take long until I wanted to completely switch to the X-H2s, even if it meant giving up my favourite X-T Series classical concept. So let me explain why…
