I had the 16mm f/1.4 early in my Fujifilm life because the 24mm was one of my main lenses while using Nikons for 40 years, and if I was going to have a new system, I could not imagine not having this focal length.

My acquisition of the f/1.4 pre-dated the release of the f/2.8 “Fujicron”, but I did buy the slower lens after dreading the heavier, faster lens for casual shooting. The f/2.8 became my 16mm of choice about 80% of the time… simply because of the size and weight.

Like you, I have taken the faster lens out because it dawned on me that I had not used it for some time. These outings always reward me with images that remind me why I never felt the price was too high when I bought it. The f/2.8 lens is very good but the f/1.4 is great, especially at or near full aperture. Wide angle with selective focus is addictive, and I often have to remind myself that there are other apertures on the ring.

Thanks for posting… I think I know which lens I’m taking out next.

Beautiful! This post reminds me Ito schedule some time to revisit the woods I visited in the summer. The 16mm end of my XF16-55mmF2.8 will do the trick.

This sounds wonderful Khurt – the 16-55 is another lens I rarely use, so maybe I need to do the same!
