Medina – Travel Photography with Fuji
Everything outside is changing so fast, but inside it’s walls things stay the same…more or less. It’s the little things that give away the modern influences.. the latest iPhone, satellite dishes and occasional resident wearing western styled clothing. I’m going to geek-out a bit here, it reminded me of Star Wars where all of the races were super technologically advanced but they lived in dwellings resembling huts. Visit the medinas of Morocco before it changes too much but get a good pair of walking shoes. The narrow streets aren’t car friendly.
Images shot on location in Essaouira and Marrakech with the Fujifilm X-T1, X-M1 and X100s. Editing was done in Adobe Lightroom CC.
Planning
Bring both warm and cool weather clothing, definitely a hat. The temperature can vary wildly depending on the season. Bring two lenses (wide angle and telephoto) in bags that do not look like photography gear.
Cameras
Bring the smallest interchangeable camera you can. Try not to draw attention to yourself and be polite if you want a picture of a local person.
Places
Fez, Essaouira, Marrakech (Medina)

“I got my start in photography as a hobbyist in high school and it progressed until my final year at university. I all but gave it up when I entered the business world, fresh out of school. Fortunately I picked it up again in late 2005 and began making travel and landscape images as I journeyed around the globe. I often joke that my camera has taken me to more places than any other influence in my life.
Today my main focus is lifestyle portraiture along with commercial and design work. My images are also featured on iStockphoto where clients are able to purchase licenses for web and print projects.”
