My Fujifilm Story
My name is Lucas Hernandez, from Central Texas. I’ve been shooting since 2000. Photography was the only class in school that had my attention. I would roll up extra cans of film to take personal photos, while also doing what was needed for class. After many years of shooting film, I hit a roadblock. Life just wasn’t what it was supposed to be.
Then one of my cameras, that I lent to someone I know, came back broken. Then the other one just stopped being fun for me. I didn’t lose my love for photography. It just wasn’t fun anymore. The DSLRs at the time were just growing and growing and becoming more and more advanced. But I was still withdrawn from it.
It wasn’t until I saw the Fuji X-T1 that the photography spark in me reignited. Then the X-T2 came out. I was sold. I went and ordered the X-T1, since it was the camera that really moved me. Then I added the X-T3 at launch. And I’m back. It feels great being back in this field.
My Fuji just feels good. When I see the camera bodies, I know it’s going to be fun. These cameras really make me want to shoot. I think Fuji does that for everybody who just sees them. And now, I’m leaning towards a GFX camera. Why? Because why not? I know what I can do with my X-T3 and X-T1. And maybe my work and clarity will become even greater with the medium format system. But, for now, these XT series bodies are amazing. I still use the X-T1 as much as the X-T3. And that says a lot for how amazing the X-T3 is.
My style of work leans towards portraiture. People like Antoine Verglas, Ross Halfin, Dominick Guillemot and a few others were the ones who I quickly followed many years back when I first started. Maybe one day someone will say one of my photos moved them. Ha… one can hope.

“I’m a small-town photographer from Central Texas who loves spending time with people.
My main work is directed towards one-on-one portraits. I do also work on group or family portraits from time to time, as well as couple photos. I love to photograph bands who come through town or bands I happen to travel to see. As a musician, I always want to photograph musicians in the way I want to be photographed.”
